Reclaiming Our Roots Magazine
Reclaiming Our Roots is a new seasonal forest school magazine rooted in nature-based education, the wisdom of the natural world, and the voices of our wider community. Created as a collective, the magazine brings together stories, practices, reflections, and resources from forest school guides, outdoor educators, teachers, artists, and wildhearted guides like you.
More than a magazine, it is a growing mycelial network—strengthening and nourishing the connections between forest school guides, Forest School Teacher Institute (FSTI) graduates, affiliates, and aligned earth-based educators across the globe.

Why We Started
The vision for Reclaiming Our Roots began when FSTI Founder Dr. Jean Lomino and Theresa Baetzel recognized the need for a space that connects forest school guides, educators, parents, and facilitators. Our work in nature-based education is strongest when we come together— sharing ideas, inspiration, and the stories that ground us in our purpose.
By weaving these voices into one place, we are launching something beautiful: a living archive of the practices, wonder, and wisdom that shape the future of forest school education.
What's Ahead
Our first issue will be released in October. Each purchase also includes access to an exclusive online gathering, led by a member of our community. These seasonal gatherings may take the form of a workshop, informational session, or Q&A— designed to extend the conversation, deepen learning, and spark meaningful connections beyond the page.
Join us in co-creating this exciting new chapter for the forest school and FSTI community!
